I am so happy that we found Arnold and his team! We purchased a home that was built in 1990 with balusters were too far apart and posed a safety risk for our son. We needed to replace them right away. I reached out to a few people until I found Arnold. He was the only one willing to meet and provide an in-person estimate. In fact, I think he was out the following day or so. We talked through options, he listened to my feedback, and he provided a solution that not only is aesthetically pleasing, but saved us additional expense. The final result looks amazing. You can’t tell what’s new vs existing, which can be difficult when matching woods. He also was able to create custom gates for additional safety. Fantastic. The LVP floor in our basement (installed by someone else) started bubbling so we called Vintage to see if they could fix it before it started to crack. They were able to find the issues (plural) and fix the troubled spots in two days. It now is perfect. Arnold showed us where it was installed improperly and how to remove any potential future issues ourselves from the rest of the floor. (I’m sure they would have happily allowed us to pay them to do that for us, so I appreciated their trying to save us that cost.)

We would definitely recommend Vintage Wood Floors and Stairways. We had purchased a home with spindle spacing that was too wide / not to current code and unsafe for our toddler. Arnold came up with a creative solution to the problem that both gave an upgrade to the staircase and brought it to code / made it safe without having to completely redo the entire staircase. The crew members were great the day of the job – very flexible, took good care of our home, and did fantastic work. The final product blended beautifully with the existing structures and stains. We were overall very happy with the team from start to finish and would highly recommend Arnold and his team!

We are so grateful for the fabulous work they did on our stairs! When we moved into our house (built in 1940), the previous owners had covered up the original wood stairs with carpet. It was decades old and in desperate need of removal. Vintage Floors and Stairs removed the carpet, revealing lovely heart pine. They refinished the wood, staining it to match the rest of our heart pine flooring upstairs. The project was precisely on schedule; they worked to get everything done in a small window due to our time constraints. The team was great about communication throughout the project and took great care to tidy up after every stage.

A quality job throughout We wanted to replace our metal hall stair rail with a wooden one for many years. We decided to get a contractor to take up the carpet on the stairs and in our hall and to replace the railing. We hired Vintage to do that job. That was phase 1 of our project. We picked carpet to put on the stairs and hall, and that phase is scheduled and waiting for a carpeting company. So if you see my photos, ignore the flooring since that will be covered. We contacted Vintage about our job and Arnold understood what we wanted and was able to give an initial estimate over the phone. He came out to view the job. His expertise gave us confidence that he knew the choices in products to install and the local building codes. He helped us design the solution. We picked posts (we chose maple wood with a Kona stain), balusters, and railings. He suggested an s-bend rail to get around a jog in our stairs. That met the codes to keep the new installation compliant. Once we had a contract, Vintage came out twice with different maple stain samples to help us decide on the exact stain color we wanted. Once the job started, the crew were exceptional in doing excellent work, keeping the work area clean, and in insuring we were happy. With the hall carpet removed, there were some gaps between the floor and wall. They installed quarter round around the entire hall to fix that problem. I can’t say enough how satisfied we were with the job. They have set a high standard for the carpet installers that will come next to complete our project. Thank you. Thank you. They did a wonderful job. I wish I had known them when I did my floors because I would have hired them for that too. When we first met Arnold, he was knowledgeable, paid attention to what we requested, and provided sound advice. He took the time to educate us on things we did not know. We got a nice diagram of the job, and notes on various aspects, such as how many balusters there would be, and where the fancy ones go vs. the regular ones. He helped us every step of the way so we would know what it would look like when it was finished. It came out just as great as we imagined it would. We had our floors already, so one thing that was needed was a color match between the new stairs and the existing floor. They matched the color perfectly. The balusters we wanted were discontinued, but he found a supplier who would still make them. The little brackets that hold up the hand rails came with the wrong finish, but Arnold made a slight modification and made them match perfectly with the balusters. There were so many little details that they took care of after consulting with us, but other things they just took care of without the need to do so. They also made sure to work in a safe environment. Each night they reattached the railing so we would have a temporary one. They covered areas around the job to reduce the mess. They vacuumed each day when they were packing up so they would not leave a mess for us to slip on. If you are thinking about doing work like this, don’t hire anyone else. You definitely will be happy with the work these guys do. One other important factor is that they don’t juggle multiple jobs, so when they are working at your house, you get 100% of their attention and they are not rushing to get out the door on to the next job. Arnold and his crew want you to be 100% happy. And you will be.

There is a reason that Arnold and his team have such incredible reviews. Our stair project looks straightforward—no fancy curves or designs. But the truth is, our 1950s era staircase (carpeted picture) was treacherously unsafe, with 7.5” treads and 8” rise. An average adult foot would not fit in its entirety, and we had multiple (sober, adult) guests fall down them in our six months of home ownership. We were desperate to make them safe, but our options were limited—the stairs had been designed that way because there was very little extra space to expand the staircase. Arnold came and conducted a thorough assessment—he wouldn’t take on the job unless he was sure he could make them significantly safer (which involved digging up part of the floor, which he did for free.) He and his crew are meticulously clean, professional, and hardworking. They checked on every detail as they went to make sure things were progressing as we liked. They stayed perfectly on schedule and on-budget, even as we made small modifications to the banister that probably cost him more to complete. We thought our best case scenario for these stairs was to get from “terrifying” to merely “uncomfortable,” but instead he eked us out luxurious 10.5” treads, and the staircase is elegant and stylish to boot. I could not recommend Arnold and his crew any more confidently.

We hired Vintage Wood Floors and Stairs to remove and replace our old problematic staircase and install solid hardwoods in our home. First and foremost the work performed absolutely exceeded our expectations. We are so happy with the new stairs and floors in our home. We had pictures of what we wanted done and Arnold came up with a plan and delivered everything that we envisioned. Arnold and his team were extremely professional and hard working. They go above and beyond and made sure that we were happy with every detail of the project. From start to finish, Arnold made the entire experience as seamless as possible. For those of you who prefer the condensed version of this review, Arnold and his team are incredible and they did an amazing job. Arnold genuinely cares about his clients, their satisfaction, and the quality of the work they perform. They are true artisans and craftsman and anyone who wants a custom experience of the highest quality should look no further. Now, for those would prefer more details on my experience, please read on. My initial experience with Arnold began months ago when I first decided to explore having my existing floors and stairs replaced. The job consisted of new flooring throughout the house, removing some existing knee walls, and installing new newel posts, handrails, balusters, and stairs. For me, materials selection was not an easy process. As the basement floors were installed directly on the concrete sub-floor, an engineered hardwood was necessary but I wanted to have solid hardwood installed throughout the remainder of the house. Finding a match for the flooring I selected for the majority of the house was no easy task. However, throughout the entire selection process, Arnold was courteous, responsive, and really helped guide me to the best selection. While others had insisted what I wanted could not be accomplished, Arnold was always dedicated to my happiness and was the only one who said “it has to be right” instead of trying to get me to utilize something that I didn’t want, which would have resulted in disappointment. Once a final materials selection was made, which was a special order, Arnold remained in regular contact and was always available if any questions arose. After everything arrived and acclimated, the installation began and Arnold was there with his crew every step of the way. He was the commensurate professional and the kind of person with whom you are glad you have done business. He made what may have initially seemed like a disruptive process smooth and as relaxing as it could have been considering the actual body of work. His crews, one for the floors and one for the stairs, were punctual, friendly, and clean. These attributes are only out shadowed by the quality of the work they performed. I even recall telling them directly on numerous occasions that they are artists. There were a few times where additional input was needed on exactly how I wanted a particular task accomplished or something fashioned and each time, they offered excellent suggestions and implemented everything perfectly. It seems to me like an increasingly rare thing nowadays to have such talented craftsman at your service as opposed to someone who simply installs a thing and moves on to the next job. Once the job was completed, Arnold thoroughly reviewed the entirety of the project with me to ensure that I was satisfied, which is an understatement. This time also allowed for any touch ups or any rework that may have been needed. However, I am very pleased to say that no such thing was required. When the crew announced at the end of the last day that they were done, they were truly done. Not even a single dab of touch up paint was required. On top of being talented at their craft, these teams are also meticulous. I am absolutely thrilled with the results and the project as whole turned out even better than I could have imagined. Summarily, Arnold exemplifies customer service and craftsmanship. It was an absolute pleasure to do business with him. I consider myself fortunate to have made the right choice by selecting him and Vintage Wood Floors and Stairs for my project and certainly won’t hesitate to contact him again should I ever need such services again in the future.

Stop your search and book these guys now! Arnold and his crew were a dream to work with. From my initial inquiry until the job was complete, Arnold was super responsive and explained everything to me throughout the process. He listened to any and all concerns and questions we had and addressed them immediately. In addition, they are so clean. They bring mats and drop cloth to cover your floors/stairs while they work, from the moment they enter they remove their shoes until they have it all laid down. They also vacuum any dust as they go, and do all the cutting outside, which was great because we were living here while they were doing the work. Plus the banisters look so great!!! 🙂 Some additional backstory: I found Vintage Wood Floors & Stairs via Google after the flooring company we used a few weeks prior didn’t tell us (until they were on site doing the install) that the new flooring wouldn’t work with our existing banisters and that we needed to find a different company to come put in new ones. Arnold responded to me immediately, came out to see our home within days, and had an estimate to me the next day. It felt too good to be true, but it wasn’t – he is just that great! I wish I would have found him before I used another company to do the floors. If you book him you will not regret it!

It is hard to put into words how fantastic Arnold and the Vintage Wood Floors & Stairs team are, but I will try my best as honest and reliable craftsmen are few and far between, and he should get the praise and recognition he deserves. Working with Arnold is the best decision we had made in two years of renovating our condo. A professional and a perfectionist, he walked us through what the job would entail, clearly explained what he could and couldn’t do, and what we should expect the finished work to look like. He was a refreshing change to other vendors – he actively listened and partnered with us. Arnold and his team were timely, courteous and professional, and went above and beyond to make sure the job was completed on schedule. His communication was excellent, and as was his project-management. He is an excellent thought-partner and displayed great patience as he answered our questions and kept us informed of progress. His team displayed fantastic attention to detail, are neat and tidy, and were a genuine pleasure to work with. It is not an overstatement to say that Arnold is an artisan, an expert, and the type of person that you are glad to work with. I wish we could replicate him to complete the remaining work for our home. The finished work exceeded all expectations and demonstrated the skill and attention to detail that Arnold and his team brings to their work. We could not be happier and certainly plan on using him again in the future. We recommend Arnold without hesitation. A wonderful experience from start to finish. Arnold is extremely responsive to e-mails/texts and he and his team show up promptly when they say they are going to. The quality of work left nothing to be desired. They were incredibly detail oriented and took a lot of care in their work. The whole team asked over and over if we were happy with how things were going or if we had any questions. We had them refinish the floors on the main level, replace the carpet in the upstairs hallway with hardwood, and replace the steps to open them up and replace carpet and finally installed a new banister. Big project but the end result is beautiful. Couldn’t be happier.

We are incredibly pleased with the results of Vintage Floors and Stairs. Our job included tearing out old carpet and replacing with hard wood flooring. We also had replacement of stair treads, railings, and balusters. Arnold Morello and his crews were great to work with. They were truly knowledgeable, courteous, and responsive. It took us a while to make some final decisions on our selections and Arnold was patient and helpful during this process. He provided samples for us to review and guidance around what might work best for our floor plan. For example, he brought sample balusters over so we could visualize them within our space and lighting to make a selection. We were replacing the flooring on the second level with the attempt to match the hard wood flooring on the main level. The staircase is in between so there were many details to consider. Arnold worked carefully with us to ensure the stain matched in both areas. The crew was detailed and respectful during the installation. They were timely on arrival and worked diligently until the job was completed. Arnold was on site each day and checked in regularly for any questions or concerns that arose. They were careful to explain and ask for our preferences when there was a choice to be made. We had some follow up visits as we noticed minor issues after installation to which the response was timely and resolved to our satisfaction. The cost was fair and within our budget. We are incredibly pleased with the job and would highly recommend them to others.

Project consisted of replacing old carpet in living area and stairs with hardwoods. Arnold asked and answered all my many questions for the proposal, responded with a proposal quickly and was persistent in finding the perfect color to match existing wood in our foyer. The job started when he said it would and was completed on time. He took care of every detail, including putting protective felt on the legs of my furniture. His team was very professional, on time and left my home clean everyday. I love my new floors, stairs and stair rails! I highly recommend Vintage Wood Floors & Stairs.

We are very happy with Arnold Morello at Vintage Wood Floors for his quick response to our request to have our floors repaired. The wood flooring in our home goes from the kitchen then extends into the living and dining room areas. But, we only wanted one small area in the kitchen to be repaired near the dishwasher. The dishwasher had leaked causing our floor to darken and mold to collect. For one, Arnold was able to patch this area rather than try to replace the entire floor. The wood was glued to concrete, so it was not easy to get up. Since the floor was 15 years old, we didn’t think Arnold would be able to find the same flooring. Not only did he find it, buy he expertly and timely mixed stains to make the wood look exactly like our original flooring. Now when we look at our floor, we can ‘t tell we had any problem at all. Arnold Morello is truly the floor wizard! We highly recommend him! He is pleasant, punctual, and very skilled. He takes great pride in what he does. He has years of experience. With his knowledge and his creative instincts, he looks for perfection and works at it until he gets it. You can’t go wrong getting your floors done by Arnold Morello at Vintage Wood Floors & Stairs.
